Annie B. Melville departed for her heavenly home on October 23, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends, at Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell, New Jersey.
Early Life and Education
Annie B. Melville was born on January 28, 1936, in Lisman, Alabama, to the late Willie and Rosa Mae Keeton. She was educated in the Lisman public school system before moving north to begin a new chapter in New Jersey.
A Life of Service
Annie made Trenton, New Jersey, her home for over 40 years before relocating to Lawrenceville in 2011. She dedicated over 25 years of her life to educating children as a beloved staff member at Stokes Elementary School, working through the Trenton Board of Education. Known for her nurturing spirit, kindness, and unwavering patience, she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues throughout her career.
Faith and Ministry
A woman of deep faith, Annie was a devoted member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Trenton, NJ, for over 50 years. She generously offered her time and service whenever and wherever needed within the congregation. Annie received numerous awards for her leadership and faithful dedication to Christ Church, and she was widely admired for her commitment to ministry and the spiritual growth of her church community.
Family and Community
Annie was the cherished wife of the late Vernon Hamilton Fitzroy Melville Sr., who preceded her in death on September 6, 2013. She was also the devoted sister of the late James Keeton and Robert L. Keeton. She is survived by her four loving children: sons Vernon Jr., Randy, and Edward; and daughter Annie Rose Mansur. She is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Pam and Lael; a son-in-law, Ahmad Mansur; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of dear friends who were touched by her warmth, generosity, and loving nature.
Final Resting Place and Memorial Contributions
Annie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Ewing Cemetery, located at 78 Scotch Rd, Ewing Township, NJ 08628. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association or the Melville Family Foundation, an organization close to the family’s heart. melvillefamilyfoundation.com
Funeral services will be 10:30am Saturday, November 1, 2025 at St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 140 North Warren St., Trenton, NJ 08608.Calling hour will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
