Annie Pearl Ricks (Nee Crutchfield) passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Browns Mills on May 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Swainsboro, GA November 9, 1940, to Alfred and Katherine Crutchfield, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was loved by many. Her early education began in Lexsy, GA, culminating with her graduation from Lexsy High School. Upon relocating with her family to Trenton, NJ she was employed at Sean, Field and Wolf pocketbook factory before continuing her education at Manpower Vocational school where she completed her CNA program earning her certification in 1973. With her certificate she began working at Meadow Lakes Retirement Home in Hightstown, NJ, retiring after 17 years. She was also a published author with one book and several poems in different publications. Annie was deeply devoted to God and was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for over 20 years where she served in the Young Matrons, the Memorial Club and sang in the Senior Choir before she became ill. Annie was a beautiful, gentle woman whose love and laughter impacted everyone around her. She will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and the endless love she gave her family.
She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years Ulyes Ricks Sr., a son Ulyes Ricks Jr., a daughter Ann Geneva Ricks, siblings Alberta Crutchfield, Malois Crutchfield Everett, Mattie Crutchfield, Aldine Crutchfield Moses, Willie Turner, Essie Turner and Eloise Turner. She is survived by 4 children including Lestine Lane of Pemberton Twp NJ, Richard Ricks (Taisha) of Burlington NJ, Patricia Jones of Hamilton NJ and Sandra Ricks of Browns Mills NJ. 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends including her best and lifelong friend Itlean Gray, goddaughter Dawn Gray, special nieces and nephew Ruban Roberts, Sabrena Nixon and Zandra Pope. And special mention granddaughter Tianna Ricks who helped serve as her caregiver.
Funeral service will be 12pm Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 11am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
