Aretha Johnson Obituary

When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. 

With much love spread and many memories shared, our beloved Aretha accepted her angel's invitation into the kingdom on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Capital Health Systems in Trenton, New Jersey. As a result, our hearts are less bright but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter. 

Aretha Lynn Johnson, born November 26,1968 in Trenton, New Jersey to Margaret M. Johnson and Hayward L. Johnson. 

She was educated in the Trenton public school system. 

Aretha was a loving and caring person with a heart of gold. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing games on her phone. Aretha attended church at Macedonia Baptist Church and Greater Life. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Johnson; her father Hayward L. Johnson; her brother Richard D. Johnson; a niece Quamera Massey; a special sister Victoria Williams; a special nephew Daquan Patterson. 

Aretha's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her five daughters Tamara M. Brittingham, Robin L. McPherson, Rachel D. McPherson (Bernard), 
Latasha Hodges and Rashanda hodges; ; her son Carmen S. Wingate; her sisters Denise Johnson, Ernestine C. Johnson-Massey and Teneisha N. Johnson; her grandchildren Briajia B.M. Whiting, Zaira O. Cooper, Zaire O. Cooper, Za'Miyah D.L. Baines and Brandon D. Niblack; her nephews Rodney D. Johnson, Jabril D. Henderson and Quamir Massey; her nieces Shamara M. Thompson, Dyani Henderson and Quania Laws; her aunts Theresa Webb-Harrison, Diana L. Parker and Cheryl Parker; her cousins Michael Parker, Tamara Parker, James Parker, David L. Parker [r., Daivohn Parker, Kayla Parker, Stacey Webb and Ryan Webb; special son Najee Harris; special granddaughters Kirnora Turner and Naiqua White; special nephews Troy Chisolm, Taquian Davis,J.D. Cater, Naquian Davis and De'Ontae Reeves; special nieces Fantasia Bennet, Aaliyah Patterson, Kimba Chisolm, Sabri a Williams, Kenya Huntley, Brittany Clark, De'Ane Huntley; Kenya Jones and Lynasia McKnight; great nieces Siani M. Aikens, Dasani Johnson, Heaven Johnson, Kimora Laws and Wisdom Johnson; her childhood best friend Maria McClean-Dennis; special sisters Terry Lively (Curtis), Tara Johnson, Janice Hedgepath, Michelle Huntley, Latania Brockington, Diane Chisolm and Patricia NeSmith; special brothers Courtney Davis and Curtis Lively; mention Tony Brittingham; a host of other relatives and friends. 

 

Funeral service will be 1pm Friday, September 17, 2021 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave, Trenton, NJ 08618.  Calling hour will be 12pm until the time of service.  Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ.
