Ayzel J. Allen was born in Trenton, New Jersey on April 10, 1962 to Annetta Allen and Jimmy Edwards.
Ayzel quietly slipped away while at home to reunite with our Lord and Savior on September 8, 2020.
Ayzel affectionately called “Sput Al” by family and friends, was raised in a loving Christian home and he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a very early age and was baptized at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bordentown, New Jersey under the leadership of the late Rev. William King.
Ayzel was preceded in death by his father Jimmy A. Edwards; sisters Paula C. Allen, Ruth Dublin and RaMona McDaniels; his brothers Paul C. Allen and Bobby Samuels; grandparents Joe and Rosalee Carry and William C. West and Blanche West Morris; his godfather William Hilton.
Ayzel received his early education in the Fieldsboro-Bordentown school system where he made a name for himself by excelling in what he called “the skillfil art of basketball. Ayzel finished his high school education at the Willingboro High School in Willingboro, NJ.
Ayzel loved working with his hands and he referred to himself as the ”ultimate Independent Contractor-able to do it all without you losing your shirt!”
Ayzel was united in marriage with Marlene Marshall and became a father to William, Eric, John and Rayshawn who joined brother Davon Platt and sisters Christina Blanche and Janell Evans Allen making his family complete. His heart swelled and became full at the birth of his two grandsons Masters Messiah and Alijah.
Ayzel is home with the Lord but he leaves to cherish his memory his wife Marlene; two daughters Christina Blanche and Janell Evans Allen; his five sons Davon Platt William, John, Eric and Rayshawn Marshall; his mother Annetta Allen; eight sisters Cecelia Alton, Min. DeAllen-Gwaltney, Oneida McDaniels, Faith Allen, Yolanda (William) Porter, Nefertari Nelson, Tisha Smith and Aisha Allen; two brothers Vincent (Betty) Thomas and Anthony McDaniels; two grandchildren Messiah and Alijah Blanche; aunts Maryann Edwards, Rosalee Atkins and Shirley McDaniels; uncles Lemon and Johnny Melvin Sutton; a godmother Mary Jackson; godmother Mary Jackson; two special godsons Jamal and Anthony Addisons; his “Brothers” forever Kevin Ganges, Alan Bunn and Larry Goldware and Lebby Jones; special loves Martha Ann Stratton, Jeanie Platt, Barbara Blanche and Lebby Jones; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 5 – 7pm Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave, Trenton, NJ, 08618. Interment will be 11am Friday, September 18, 2020 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Burlington, NJ.
