Obituary

When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. With much love spread and many memories shared, our beloved Barbara accepted her angel's invitation into the kingdom on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Capital Health Medical Center-Hopewell in Hopewell, New Jersey. As a result, our hearts are less bright but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter.

Barbara Gaskins, born November 8, 1944 in Trenton, New Jersey to Eala and Robert Williams. She remained a Trenton resident her entire life. She was educated in the Trenton public school system. She furthered her education while attending Rutgers University.

Barbara was employed at the Rescue Mission as a counselor. She also worked at UPI and the Bo Robinson House.

Barbara enjoyed playing cards, fishing, writing, dancing, listening to music and going to Atlantic City. On one trip to AC she had the pleasure of meeting one of her favor ite singers, Tom Jones.

She met her met husband Wilbur at the Rescue Mission where they were both counselors. She and Wilbur loved taking road trips together. On one road trip they visited West Point Military Academy.

Barbara used to write for the Nubian Newspaper of Trenton, New Jersey. She was strong-willed, outspoken, and marched to the beat of her own drum. She loved life, and she was full of confidence. She was very meticulous about her appearance, and loved dressing up.

She was predeceased by her parents Eala Williams and Robert Williams; her grand mother Bessie Wicker; five sisters Brenda Williams, Jennifer Williams, Cynthia Clark, Toni Wright and Eala Williams; two brothers Herbert Williams and Thomas Moody; an uncle Herbert J. Carmichael.

Barbara's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by three sisters Sharon White Johnson (George) of Lawnside, NJ, Denise Clark-Gibson of Ewing Twp., NJ and Traci Williams Davis (Samuel) of Evesham, NJ; two brothers Malcolm Clark of Arlington, VA and Caliph Ronald Griffin of Trenton, NJ; two very special cousins Francine Mathis and Vancille Jackson both of Trenton, NJ; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
