Beverley Gass Obituary

Beverley A. Gass, known to most as “BG”, was born May 26, 1936 to the late Samuel L. Gass and Cathleen B. Gass in Trenton, New Jersey.  As their only child, he was educated in the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1954.

After graduating high school, “BG” served in the United States Air Force, where he was Honorably Discharged in 1958.  After serving his country, he began working at the New Jersey State Hospital as a Forensic Security Officer.  In 1960, he accepted employment with the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections, where for over 28 years, he mentored fellow officers prior to retiring. For the next 20 years, “BG” held multiple positions with the Trenton Board of Education as a Truant Officer and also as a Special Education Math Teacher at the Woodrow Wilson School until his final retirement in 1985.

On December 16, 1961, he married Lottie V. Gass and they resided in Hamilton, New Jersey.  Together they created a caring home where they lovingly raised their children with a fabulous pool that brought the family together. Later in life while residing in Charlotte, North Carolina and their final residence in Ewing, New Jersey, they were blessed with three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

“BG” joined King David Lodge #15 as F. & A. M. -P.H.A in 1975. He was a member of KHUFU Temple #120 in 1976. His hobbies included bowling, traveling to Washington DC to visit his family, watching football, going to horse races at both Philadelphia and Monmouth Parks as well as playing poker.  “BG” simply enjoyed life by ‘hanging out’.

He was predeceased by his parents and special friends, Arnold Thomas and Harvey Minor.

“BG” departed this life peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 and leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 56 years, Lottie Gass, his children, Darlene Gorham, Michelle L.Gass, Dawn L.
