Calvin C. Brooks, 83, passed away on December 5, 2024, inAlbemarle, North Carolina. Mr. Brooks, son of Ira & Evelyn Brooks was born andraised in Hopewell (Mercer), NJ.
He served his country with distinction enlisting just after high school and completing 2 tours in the United States Airforce where he served in SAC, the Strategic Air Command. He was also a Boy Scout Troop Leader for several years where he mentored young men who went on to have successful careers, including in public service. He had a 30+ year career in Communications with Lucent Technologies (formerly AT&T Bell South).
Mr. Brooks was quick-witted, talented & incredibly brilliant with a knack for technology. He had a passion for assembling model airplanes and his creations were often the objects of envy at the airfield. Family was very important to him. He loved his wife Debbie and was blessed by their union, and her gentle care in his final days. He also took great pride in the success of his daughter Mia, and her children, Jasmine and Evan.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Samuel and Alma Brooks and Barton and Carrie Ford, his father, Ira “Pop Pop” Brooks, and his brother, Russell Brooks. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Debbie Brooks, his mother, Evelyn Dunn Brooks, his daughter, Mia Brooks-Cooper, 6 sisters and 4 brothers, Wenonah Brooks, Evelyn Brooks, Cheryl Brooks, Madeline Brooks, W. Robert and Karen Brooks, I. Barton and Gloria Brooks, Anderson and Bethann Brooks, Carol Brooks, and B. Jeanette Brooks, his grandchildren, Jasmine and Evan Cooper, a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and great great nephews.
Funeral service will be 11am Friday, December 27, 2024 at Second Calvary Baptist Church, 69 Columbia Ave., Hopewell, NJ 08525. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be 10am Monday, December 30, 2024 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
