Carl A. Byrd Obituary

With  profound sadness we announce the loss of our beloved Carl "Tony" Byrd, our loving and devoted uncle, cousin and friend to all  whose lives he touched, on April 3, 2024. 

Carl Anthony Byrd was born in Trenton, NJ on October 25, 1947 to the late Stewart Byrd St and Cora Lee King- Byrd. 

''Tony" as he was affectionately known; was a man of God and a  lifelong member of Union Baptist Church of Trenton, NJ. He was educated in the Trenton Public School System and later went on to serve in the U.S. Army. As a graduate of Trenton Central High School "Tony" went on to earn his Masters from Trenton College of New Jersey. He  spent his career in education and was a counselor for the "Weed and Seed Program" of Trenton. Carl retired as a educator, teaching at a number of schools between Newark, Ewing, and Trenton and at Mercer County Community College. 

"Tony" was an avid reader who loved crossword puzzles and sudoku. Although he had no children he was known as the  "Patriarch" of his family. He was a man of many profound words and often gave his many nieces and nephews advice and direction. 

Mr. Byrd was predeceased by his parents Stewart Byrd Sr. and Cora Lee King- Byrd, brothers Stewart Byrd Jr. and Maurice Byrd, and sister Phyllis Byrd, great nephews Sherief and Joshua, great- great niece Neamoni. Carl leaves to mourn and cherish his precious memories  his six nephews: Kenneth, Keith Sr., Richard, Maurice, Ernest, and Stewart, his god son Lyric, two sister-in- laws Betty and  Linda, great nieces and nephews Tanesha, Carla, Keith, Jazmen, Caliph, Corrina, Davanese, Javon, jasiah, Ernest Jr., and Airen. Special friends George, Donna, Shelly, and Vereen. And a host of cousins, family and friends. 

 

Funeral service will be 11am Friday, April 12, 2024 at Union Baptist Church, Pennington Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be 9:30am Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.
