Carol Sweat

Ms. Carol Annette Sweat was born in Newark, NJ on November 10, 1962 to Lorraine Sweat and the late Joseph Sweat. She gained her wings on April 1, 2023.

Raised in Trenton, NJ Carol attended the Trenton Public School system where she was in the gifted and talented program and graduated from Trenton Central High School, Class of 81’, as an honor student. A member of the Jr. 3 and Trenton Central High School marching band and orchestra, where she excelled as a flute player. She attended Kean College and was continuously on the Dean’s List. Carol was a hard worker, throughout her career she held multiple positions and was currently working at ETS in Ewing, NJ.

“Ms. Carol” as she was affectionately known, was loved and respected by many; she marched to the beat of her own drum. She loved to have a good time and her presence was infectious. She enjoyed dancing, reading, playing games, eating and spending quality time with her family. She especially loved their outings and annual vacations. She was a proud mother and grandmother, very supportive, caring and helpful to everyone she met.

Carol was predeceased by her father Joseph Sweat, brothers John S Brittingham Jr. and Michael Felder, her nephew Troy K Sweat, a special cousin Brian Salley and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving mother Lorraine Sweat, her four children Kia Smith (Rashawn Jacobs); Tamara Smith (Raheen Porter); Miquis and Danielle Smith, of Trenton, NJ; five siblings Delores, Shirley Mae, Jackie Sweat of Trenton, NJ; Joseph Sweat (Barbara), of Tampa, FL; Melvin Felder (Terry) of Bowman, SC; and stepfather John S. Brittingham Sr. (Mae) of Tampa, FL. Ms. Carol was a proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren Nya, Nasira, Miquis, Kori, Maurice, Jabril, Kayla, Mehki, Kaden, Mason and Addison. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, a group of close work friends, a best friend Patricia Walton, and a special friend Dallas Maverick.

Funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave, Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park Hamilton, NJ. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
