Carolyn Lockhart-Isabell

Carolyn “Karen” Lockhart Isabell, 56, departed this life on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her home surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Princeton, NJ to the late Emma Gean Moreland and the late Bobby Dixon, Carolyn was a lifelong Trenton resident.

Carolyn matriculated through the Trenton Public School system and graduated from Trenton Central High School. Her post high school education included course studies at the Gordon Phillips Academy, Mercer County Community College, and Mercer County Vocational Technical School. Her range of employment included work at 4 G’s Market, the N.J. Department of Taxation, the Dental Office of Dr. G. B. Terry, Comcast of Trenton, El Bethel Baptist Church Pre-School, and Amazon.com, Inc.

Carolyn gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of the Calvary Full Gospel Church, Fairless Hills, PA. In addition to her faith, Carolyn treasured and was committed to her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with and being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She credited her family love and dedication to the affection and lessons passed on to her by her grandmother Ophelia whom she cherished. She was forever grateful for both and actively sought to impart them to her family. She had a quirky, yet endearing sense of humor which she readily shared and an innate curiosity frequently displayed in her search for insight about her family, faith, and life in general.

Carolyn is predeceased by her parents and brother Anthony Holmes (Clarice). She leaves to cherish her memory an extensive family including her devoted husband Teles “Brother” Isabell; daughters Zikiya Lockhart-Salley (Karl) and Amber Shabazz (Amir); sons Tyler and Jordan Isabell; stepsons Dion Edwards and Eric Irvin; grandchildren Jaelan, James, Scotland, Amir, Azmeer, Kamden, Azia, and Harlem; brothers Robert Dixon (Lou), Gary Lockhart (Fredericka), and Jeffrey Dixon (Tanya); sisters Pamela Taylor (Robert) and Cynthia Grier (John); favorite uncle Timothy Lockhart (Regina) and uncles William (Jackie) and Michael; aunts Daisy Irving (Larry), Linda Griffith (Douglas), and Patricia Brown; special niece Toshua Tanner (Terrance) and special cousin Henry Davis (Rebecca); dear friends Kimberly Cagle Swint, Olugbala Sababu, and Charlotte McCoy; and a host of other family and friends.

Homegoing events for Carolyn will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Calvary Christian Fellowship Ministries, 611 Parkway Ave. Ewing, NJ 08618, beginning with a viewing from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, immediately followed by the service. The internment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 545 Eggert Crossing Road, Trenton, NJ.
