Carrie McQueen Obituary

With much love spread and many memories shared, our beloved Carrie accepted her angel’s invitation into the kingdom on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson in Hamilton, New Jersey. As a result, our hearts are less bright but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter.
 
Carrie L. McQueen was born September 21, 1954  in Trenton, New Jersey to Virginia R. McQueen and David Patterson. She remained a lifelong Trenton resident.
 
Carrie was educated in the Trenton public school system. She was employed in the field of Early Childhood Development as a teacher’s assistant in the Trenton/Ewing areas. She also worked at Dee Dee’s Lounge as a cook in the kitchen in her spare time.
 
“Big Girl” as she was affectionately named. loved to dance, play cards and enjoyed laughing with her bug beautiful smile. She also loved being with her family and friends. Carrie was also was a great sketch artist, she created beautiful pictures for her classrooms and students.
 
She was preceded in death by her mother Virginia B. McQueen; her father David Patterson; three brothers Dennis McQueen, Arthur McQueen and Robert Patterson; six aunts Shirley, Carrie, Helen, Gladys, Margaret and Mae; seven uncles Howard, Roosevelt Fred, William, Larry, Lorenzo and Samuel; two nieces Paula R. McQueen and LaTora D. Patterson; a nephew Shawn Curry; two brothers-in-law Herbert Downing Jr. and Lynch Hunt.
 
Carrie’s memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her sisters Delores Patterson, Hattie Mae McQueen-Hunt, Katherine McQueen and Corrine Patterson-Downing; a brother David Brittingham (Tracy); an uncle James Marsh (Mary); two aunts Hazaleen Fairley and Ophelia Jamison; a special brother/cousin Donald Patterson (Louise); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

 

Services will be 10 – 11am Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave, Trenton, NJ, 08618. Interment will be private.
