Carthen M. Baker

CARTHEN M. BAKER, of Trenton NJ went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 3,2021 at Capitol Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton NJ. Carthen or "Dean' as he was affectionately called by family was born on May 29, 1971 in Trenton, New Jersey. Carthen was the first maternal grandson of the late Deacon Lawrence Whitworth and Mother Sallie Mae Whitworth and paternal grandson of Bishop Robert Rushing and Mother Ora Mae Rushing. 

Carthen, was born in Trenton, New Jersey and was also a lifelong resident. Carthen graduated from Trenton Central High School class of 1989, he continued his studies at Mercer County College, Thomas Edison University and Christian Ministry School of Bridgeton New Jersey. 

Carthen, was employed at the State of Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for 31 years and was recently promoted Level 3 IT Computer Analysis. 

Growing up Carthen was reared in Way of the Cross Holy Temple and currently was a member of the Central Christ Centered Church in Ewing, NJ. 

Carthen's charisma can brighten any room, he wanted everyone to be happy. He loved to spend with his children taking them horseback riding, virtual video games, and the movies. Carthen enjoyed travelling, cracking jokes and good food. Dean would brag about the Eagles, his signature Gumbo dish, and last but not least his "hair". 

Carthen is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Bishop Robert Rushing and Mother Ora Mae Rushing, maternal grandparents, Deacon Lawrence Whitworth and Mother Sallie Mae Whitworth. His Father Carthen Baker Jr., Mother Alice Jean Baker and Brother Darnell Baker all of Trenton, NJ, and Uncle George Whitworth of Newark, NJ. He leaves to cherish his memories 2 Sons: Kaelen A. Baker and Joshua A. Baker; 2 Brothers: Earl "Tony" Baker (Petrina) of Maryland, Jamaal Baker of Trenton NJ. 6 Aunts: Mother Helen Williams (Dave) of Trenton, NJ, Apostle Mary Randolyh (Joseph) of Trenton NJ, Dr. Sarah S. Parker (Anthony) of Trenton, N and Dr. Sarah D. Rushing Parker Goings of Yardley, Pa, Marie (Ronnie) Bowen of Charlotte NC, Linda Mount of Charlette NC. 3 Uncles: Bishop Bobby Baker (Theresa) of Trenton NJ, Minister Timothy Rushing of Georgia. and Rufus Whitworth of Trenton NJ. 7 Nieces: Myesha, Keyunna, Michelle, Aliah, Gabrielle, Ashanti, Laila. 2 Nephews: Kaeson and Darnell Jr. A host of many devoted cousins, other relatives and friends. Including special friends: Billy Hearn, Chawnda (Troy) Richardson, Felonda Spears, and Anthony Dobson. Special Cousins Craig Madison, and Mark Morgan. 

Funeral service will be 11am Monday, September 13, 2021 at Way of the Cross Holy Temple Ministries, 30 Princess Diana Dr., Ewing Township, NJ 08638. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
