With much love spread and many memories shared, our beloved Charity accepted her angel's invitation into the kingdom on Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Serenity Hospice/Robert Wood Johnson in Hamilton, New Jersey. As a result, our hearts are less bright but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter.
Charity Elizabeth Wright was born on Monday, December 6, 1954 to John and Louella Hamilton.
She was educated in the Trenton public school system.
Betty was a strong, gentle person with a great sense of humor, her smile lit up the room. She loved collecting elephants, dancing and spending quality time with her family. She became a caregiver at an early age. She took care of her uncle Lee Hightower and her cousin May Hightower until her demise. With her CNA certification she moved and cared for her sister Hattie until she was no longer able. She was always available to everyone who needed her assistance.
In her leisure time, she loved vacationing on cruises. She enjoyed attending cookouts with her family. She was predeceased by her father John Hamilton; her mother Louella Hamilton; her two sisters Hattie Crisp and Mamie Davis.
Charity's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her husband Gregory Wright; her two sons Melvin R. Hamilton and Keith S. Hamilton (Vanessa); her grandchildren Danye Hamilton-Frink, Keith Jr., Zyiona, Brianna Charity Hamilton; one great granddaughter Autum; three sisters Annie M. James Park of Forest, IL, Ada Taylor (Mike) of Brandon, FL, Lynette Hamilton of Dallas, TX; one brother John Hamilton Jr. (Robert Ann) of Conway, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 5pm Friday, October 17, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 3pm until the time of service. Interment will be private.
