Educator/Philanthropist/Daughter/Sibling/Friend
Charity Eileen Fogg (affectionately known as “Cookie” to her family) was born December 21, 1948 in Wilmington, DE to the late Daniel Thomas Fogg and Eleanor Louise Fogg. Charity was the oldest of 8 children. And she was the typical oldest sibling ensuring that the younger siblings did what they were told. If they didn’t, Charity would persuade them. She looked after her siblings and was very protective of all of them. To become an elementary education teacher was only natural. She loved teaching. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Delaware State College. Teaching was her passion and dedicated over 38 years in public education. She loved all students. She objected to using the term to describe some students as gifted and talented. To Charity, all students were gifted and talented. As such she dedicated her life to teaching children, helping to build their confidence and self-esteem. She believed in her students and left an indelible mark in each of their lives.
Charity had an absolute love and devotion to her dogs. Charity loved all animals and always had pet dogs throughout her life. She had a very special way of relating to animals. Animals always felt safe with her and she was a lifetime advocate for animal rights and protecting wildlife.
Charity lived her life to the fullest. The picture says it all. She leaves behind her siblings: David, Paul, Joel, Sheila, and Lynn. She was preceded in death by two siblings (Butch and Charlotte). The world is definitely a better place because Charity Eileen Fogg was here. She will be sorely missed and forever loved.
