Charles Johnson Obituary

Charles Peter Johnson was born May 18, 1942, to the late Richard and Florence Johnson. He was the oldest of three children. 

At a early age Charles accepted Christ and was baptized and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Bordentown, New Jersey. Later he moved his membership to Saint Phillip 
Baptist Church in Hamilton, New Jersey where he became a Deacon. 

He attended Bordentown School and graduated from William McFarland High School in Bordentown, New Jersey. He joined the US Army. While serving in the military in became involved 
with boxing. Shortly after leaving the army, Charles became a truck driver and ended his professional career as a correction officer for New Jersey State Prison. Charles was an avid fisher­
man who also enjoyed camping and riding his motorcycle! 

He married Charlotte Johnson and from that union he had two children, the late Charles Richard and Carla Nicole. 

He later joined in holy matrimony with Brenda Johnson and out of their love he gained bonus children. 

He leaves a legacy of love and precious memories with his wife Brenda; his daughter, Carla Nicole Williams (Brian) of Lawrence, New Jersey; bonus children, Ricky (Khalil) Kelly (Lauren) of Florence, New Jersey, Tiana Gibson (Ulysses) of Ewing, New Jersey, and Brie Mingo of Burlington, New Jersey; grandchildren, Eric and Tyler Williams, Tierra Hilliard, Zakkiyya Kelly-Brockington, Tamirah Green, Kiaje Black, Attiyiah Castro, Rumaysa Kelly Castro, Nevonce Mingo, Khalil Castro, Marcus Rolls, Jr., Mia Mingo, Tyquan Parker, Amira Hilliard, and Derrick Long; great-grandchildren, Madison Chisholm, Mason Chisholm, Ryan Brittingham, and Ricky Kelly; one sister, Patricia Gist of Lindenwold, New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, several cousins and loving friends . 

Funeral service will be 11am Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ
