Charles W Manning Jr. (“Pete”), 80, resident of Trenton, NJ, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was born on September 26, 1941 in Trenton, NJ and has been a resident of the Trenton community ever since.
Charles graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1960 and soon after, enlisted in the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He later retired from the US Steel Mill, dedicating 25 years of employment. Following retirement, he was an employee of Shiloh Baptist Church for 20+ years. Charles was also a long-time member and Deacon at Ujima Christian Church (Ewing, NJ).
Charles is predeceased by his parents, Charles Manning Sr. and Bertha Manning, widowed by his first wife, Marlene Manning and second wife, Mildred Manning, sister, Mable “Teddy” Pue and daughter, Constance Pritchett.
Charles is survived by his brother, William Manning-Wilson (Mary Wilson), children, Brian Manning, Chastity Manning, Giovanni Manning and Phillip Pritchett, grandchildren, Colin Hayman, Ethan Pritchett, Gianni Manning, Xavier Manning and other close relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 9th at Ujima Christian Church, 1001 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ 08618. Calling hours are from 9-11 AM. The officiating clergy is Rev. Dr. J. R. Norwood. On Tuesday, October 12th at 9:30 AM, Charles will be laid to rest with military honors at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown PA, 18940.
