Curtis Wade

Curtis Wade, a man of profound warmth, humor, and an unwavering spirit, peacefully departed this life on May 4, 2026. Born on August 30, 1960, in Valdosta, Georgia, he was the youngest of eight children born to the late Theodore P. and Julia M. Wade. Known affectionately as “Curt” to those who knew him best, he spent his life building a legacy of laughter and cherished memories.

Curtis was a man of remarkable character and a steadfast work ethic. He dedicated over 30 years of faithful service to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Throughout his long tenure, he was respected by colleagues and patrons alike for his diligence and commitment, qualities that defined his career until his well-earned retirement.

While Curtis took pride in his work, his true joy was found in his family. In 1995, he married Davine Johnson; together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Kelsey, and Curtis embraced the role of fatherhood with open arms to his sons, David and Darryl. In his later years, he found renewed companionship and love with his devoted fiancée, Karen Montgomery.

Outside of his professional life, Curtis was a man of many talents and passions. He was a gifted chef whose meals were the centerpiece of many family gatherings, bringing people togetherthrough his love of cooking. An avid sports fan, he could often be found cheering loudly and proudly for his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Curtis was also a legendary spades player. He cherished the time spent around the card table with his siblings, where his competitive spirit truly shone. He never missed an 
opportunity to offer a bit of "friendly" bragging after a hard-won victory. When he wasn't competing or cooking, he found peace in the quiet nostalgia of classic westerns.

Curtis’s memory will be forever cherished by his loving fiancée, Karen Montgomery; his children, Stephon McGhee and Kelsey Wade; his stepsons, David and Darryl Johnson; 
and his stepdaughter, Keyia Montgomery. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a beloved uncle to a host of nieces and nephews.

He is survived by six siblings who held a special place in his heart: Reverend Margaret Jackson, Virgil Wade (Betty), Theodore Wade (Priscilla), Hattie Thomas, Vickie Jones, 
and Loretta Steele.

Curtis Wade will be deeply missed, but his warmth, his laughter, and his loving spirit will remain a permanent fixture in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Funeral service will be 11am Friday, May 22, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the of the service. Interment will be private.
