Damon Washington Obituary

Damon Jay 'DayToast' Washington was born on October 23, 1968, to Rebecca Gore and Jonathan Edwards. Surrounded by love, he peacefully departed this life on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. He was 57 years old.

Born in Washington, D.C., Damon was educated in the Trenton Public School System. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He worked at Meleor and Fort Dix and proudly founded and owned One Stop Shop in Trenton, New Jersey.

Damon enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was known for bringing the party to the party wherever he went. He possessed a confidence and presence that could command any room. His bigger than life personality, sense of humor, and genuine spirit made him beloved by many. Damon honestly was truly a good time, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Damon was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Gore; his father, Johnny Edwards; his eldest brother, Leroy Washington; brother Delmor Freeman; and his daughter, Miracle Damir Washington.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Davonte Washington, Damon Washington, Daniel Washington, and Daymar Leonard; his sisters, Yolanda Washington and Dionne Washington; his brothers, Lorenzo Washington (Bernice lovingly known as Big Sis) and Yurell Washington (Kisha); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends whose lives were touched by his love and presence.

Though Damon has departed from this earthly life, his legacy, laughter, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him so "Give a toast to da Toast ...DayToast!"

PERFECTLY FLAWED

I wasn't perfect, I was flawed, but I was love in every way I knew.

If I made you laugh and sometimes cry, please know I never meant to hurt you.

I'm sorry that I had to go, when God called my name, I couldn't say no.

This life was heavy and hard at times, but your love carried me more than you know

Now God has set me free at last, so don't live only in your grief.

Rejoice when you remember me, every memory of you I hold in peace.
