David Allen Obituary

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words missed beyond measure.  

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Allen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who left us peacefully at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA. David, also known as Daddy or Dad by his children, and as Pop Pop by his grandchildren, was 61 years old on his last day.  

He was born in Greenville, NC and later relocated with his family to Trenton, NJ during his high school years, when he attended Trenton High. In his childhood, David developed an interest in constructing racecars, a hobby that soon turned into a deep affection for trucks and trucking. With the inspiration gained from the many road trips he took with his uncle who was a truck driver, David decided to become a truck driver himself After successfully finishing his training at Apex Trucking School in 1984, he started his driving career that lasted for almost thirty years. His love for this profession was undeniable. His hobbies included collecting model trucks and cherishing moments. With his family, highlighting his role as a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was there for his family whenever there was a need. Being that he had strength and resilience, David fought valiantly to be with his family until the end; leaving a legacy of love and  perseverance.            

He leaves behind his loving wife Paula Allen. children,.Nasherna Allen (Aaron Powell), Layoy Allen (Delbris-Allen); VerOnica Green (Muyideeri Adisa), and Bryant Green; grandchildren, Todd Allen, Bryant Allen; Briarina Allen, August Powell, Kai Allen, Jaxon Allen, Julian Allen, Lavar Deberry, Lorenzo Deberry, Naima Deberry, Olivia Deberry, Jaden Green; and Antonio; sister, Erma Allen; nieces and nephews, Adia Allen, Alisa Allen, Adrienne Allen, Garneo Allen, Brielle Allen, Carlton Allen Jr., and a host of great-nieces and nephews.  

David is reunited in death with his mother Hazel Allen, father John Allen, brother Carlton Allen, and son Antonio Green Who preceded him in passing.  

In the loving memory of David Allen, we remember   and reflect on the joy, wisdom, and unlimited love he shared with anyone and everyone fortunate enough to know him. His principles of love, generosity, and family will continue to inspire all those he has left behind. As we bid farewell, we hold dear the memories, lesson and love he left us all with. 

 

 

Funeral service will be 12pm Monday, April 1, 2024 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 11am until the time of service. Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ.
