David Hatcher Obituary

David Edward Hatcher know as gentle soul was born in East Orange, NJ on October 15, 1963 to the late Charles Hatcher Jr., and Audrey Hatcher.  David was a resident of Trenton, NJ but grew up in South Plainfield, NJ where he graduated from South Plainfield High School in 1977.  After receiving his diploma, David joined the Army where he served from 1982 to 1987. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1987. He then went on to become a Correctional Officer for the state of New Jersey and worked for Bordentown Correctional Facility in Bordentown, New Jersey.

David was an avid sports fan who loved the New York Yankees and the NY Giants.  His love for baseball outweighed his passion for football.  However, you could ask him about any game, and he’d run down the stats and players in two seconds flat.

David was a devoted husband, son, and uncle.  He fell in love with the love of his life, Shirley Ridley and they married on Valentine’s Day in 2004.  You never saw either of them without the other.  He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Hatcher on 12/18/18.  Both David & Shirley are together again.  That’s what you call true love all the way to the end! May they forever rest in peace. David Edward Hatcher transitioned peacefully on December 30, 2020, at St Francis Hospital in Trenton, Nj at the of 57.

Predeceased by his father, Charles Hatcher, his brother, Charles Michael Hatcher.  David leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Audrey Hatcher of South Plainfield, son Eldra Hatcher of Kentucky, two sisters, Cynthia Hatcher of Burlington, NC and Lisa Hatcher Jones of Delran, NJ, four nieces, Monique Pace (Baby Girl) of Delran, NJ, Britani Hatcher of Manville, NJ, Breeana Hatcher of Manville, NJ, two nephews, Anthony Pace of Burlington, NC and Michael Hatcher of Bud lake, NJ, three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, stepchildren Sonya Auten (Aaron), Adriane Ridley, Mary Ridley (Deceased), Brandy Derry and ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, special friends; Keith Eskridge, Michelle McNair, Lee Brown, James Williams, Jarnell & Kelly Creque all of Trenton.

David was a quiet and humble man, but he had a sense of humor.  His spirit was infectious.  He loved to laugh with his family and friends.  His love for music stemmed from the Doors to Public Enemy. If there was trouble in the air, David became the voice of reason.  He greeted his nieces with the affectionate phrase, “Baby Girl”.  David was loved by his family and friends.  He will be truly missed.
