David has earned his angel's wings. He answered the call suddenly on Friday, September II, 2020 at Capital Health Regional and took his final flight home to be with the Lord. As a result, our hearts are less bright but we know the Heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter.
David Lawrence Horton was born in Holden, Logan County West Virginia on April 12, 1948 to Jacquelyn and JP Claude Horton.
He was educated in the West Virginia public school system. He was employed at the College of New Jersey as a sous chef where he retired.
In his leisure time, David enjoyed singing and dancing to his favorite music. He sincerely loved his family and he loved the quality time he spent with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Jacquelyn Shuler; his father JP Claude Horton; his brothers Claude Horton Sr., Harvey Horton, Frank Horton, Sylvester
Horton, George Ross and Preston Ross Jr.: his sisters Dianne Norwood, Francis Butler, Doris Norwood, Laetitia Ray and Loretta Horton; great grandson Darren Craig Horton Jr.
David's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by his wife Velma Martin-Horton; his daughters Lisa Horton (Shawn), Janet Horton (Tyrone); his son Sylvester Horton; his sisters Hattie Berry [Leonard) and Diane Rogers; his brothers Eddie Horton (Ruth) Thomas Horton (Lenora), Jerry Ross (Daisy) and Charlie Ross (Sheila); his closest niece April Horton-Keel; his closest granddaughter Ebony Horton; two granddaughters, six grandsons; six great granddaughters and eight great grandsons; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 9–11am Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave, Trenton, NJ, 08618. Interment will be Private.
