Deloris Cook

Deloris Cook departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Hamilton, NJ, she resided in the Trenton/Hamilton area for over 55 years.Deloris was born in Palatka, Florida on July 19, 1942. 

She received her early education in the Putnam School District and graduated from Palatka Central Academy High School. Deloris moved to New Jersey where she worked for over 40 years at the historical Trenton’s Widows’ and Single Women’s’ Home. Where she developed life-long friendships with Mrs. Bessie Frazier, Ms. Marci Christian, and the late Ms. Lula Jones. 

Deloris was a kind and compassionate woman, a dedicated mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and a friend to many. Deloris enjoyed talking on the phone to family and friends, journaling, crocheting, going to concerts with her family, cooking, and baking. 

On Friday April 12, 2024, Deloris transitioned comfortably surrounded by family and peacefully walked through heaven’s gates.

Deloris was predeceased by her parents, Houston Williams Sr, and Curlease (Rambert) Williams; husband Roy T. Cook; brothers Eddie B. Sanders, Lonnie Johnson, Dr. Howard T. Williams, Houston Williams Jr.; and her cherished sister Myrtle M. McKinney.

She leaves to cherish her memory her one and only child Arnita Renee Cook-Earl (Freeman); her beloved grandchildren Kassaundra B. Moore and Kyle T. Moore Jr.; her brothers Rev. Hudson A.Williams (Nina), Clifford Williams, Michael Williams (Denise), Alphonso Williams; her dear sister Angela Williams-Powell (Curtis); several nieces, nephews, cousins, paternal aunts and uncles; special friends Mrs. Bessie Frazier, Ms. Marcia Christian, Mr. Curtis Davis and those she considered like daughters Ms. Marion Jefferson, and  Ms. Maria Chester, and a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until time of service. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
