Denise Davis-Smith, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, Soror, mentor, and woman of God. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the love she shared with those around her.
She was the daughter of Eleanor and Simon Davis, born on February 18, 1966, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Denise was a proud "Brooklynite" who carried the spirit, resilience, and warmth of her community throughout her life. Her roots were a source of pride and helped shape the vibrant, caring person so many came to know and love. At an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ and was a member of the New Hope Church of God in East Windsor, New Jersey.
Denise attended Brooklyn Public Schools and later furthered her education at Buffalo State College, reflecting her commitment to growth, learning, and building a meaningful life. Recognizing the true meaning of service and sisterhood, she became a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated on December 14, 1985. As a "Tre," she was affectionately known as "Februa," a name that reflected her unique spirit and the deep bonds she formed with her Sorors.
On May 24, 2012, alongside seven Finer women, Denise chartered Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, the Omega Mu Zeta chapter, which serves Southern and Middlesex County, New Jersey-a testament to her leadership, dedication, and enduring commitment to community service. Furthering her legacy of service and empowerment, she went on to charter the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Central New Jersey section, continuing her lifelong commitment to uplifting and advocating for her community.
On May 4, 2022, Denise became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she continued her path of service and sisterhood. She served as Worthy Matron and was a dedicated leader of the Lily of the Valley chapter in Trenton, New Jersey, exemplifying grace, strength, and commitment in all she did.
After completing her education, Denise embarked on a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. Over the course of 32 rewarding years, she worked for leading organizations, including GE Healthcare, Novartis, and, most recently, Worldwide Clinical Trials, where she served as a Clinical Data Manager. Denise Davis-Smith's career was both impactful and fulfilling, and she touched the lives of many she encountered along the way through her professionalism, dedication, and genuine care for others.
