Denise was born on February 17, 1957 in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Junior and Lorraine Farmer of South Carolina. Denise attended the Trenton School Systemn and the Essex County School System. She studied Justice Studies/Pre-Law at Montclair State University. She later returned to school to study Business and Marketing to become an independent travel agent. She was a travel consultant at KIA Travels, LLC. Denise also worked at and retired from IBEW Local 827 as a former technician at Verizon Communications. Denise Farmer-Smith, known to many as "Kia", peacefully departed this earth on July 2, 2025.
Denise spent her early years in Trenton, New Jersey where she gave birth to her son Corey "Farmer"-Bryant. She eventually moved to East Orange, New Jersey where she spent over 27 years working for Verizon. She met and married Milton Bryant and gave birth to their daughter Kelli Bryant. After her husband's departure, she bought her home in East Orange, NJ, where she spent over 25 years. She later remarried her long time friend from Trenton, NJ, Clifford "Ricky" Smith. After the passing of her husband "Ricky", Denise packed up and relocated to a new home in Columbus, Georgia, where she recently departed this life.
Denise had a big personality and a great sense of humor. She was an outgoing person. She had a love for traveling, good music and good food, and she loved to dance. Denise loved her independent business; 'she spent over ten years` as a travel agent helping people book their vacations to the destinations of their dreams.
Denise was predeceased by her parents Junior and Lorraine Farmer; her brother Larry Farmer; her late husband's Milton Bryant first and Clifford "Ricky Smith" last. Denise is survived by her son Corey Farmer-Bryant and his children; her daughter Keli Bryant and her daughter; her brother Garry; other relatives and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618.
