Diane Bridgewater Carroll departed this life on October 10, 2025, at Capital Diane was born on February 28, 1948, in Trenton, NJ and remained a lifelong t resident of the community. She was educated in the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Trenton Central High School. She continued her County Community College both in New Jersey. education to obtain her associate degree at Trenton State College and Mercer
Diane was employed with the Trenton Public School System with approximately 50 years of service before retiring as a Paraprofessional. She taught at Cadwalader, Jefferson, Grant, Rivera, Robbins and PJ Hill Elementary Schools.
Diane found joy in life's simple pleasures such as reading a good book, solving crossword puzzles, and never missing an episode of Jeopardy. Family gatherings with her children and grandchildren brought her the greatest happiness, and filling her heart with laughter and love. She especially cherished her visits with her granddaughter, Tajha, and shared many joyful moments and laughs during trips to the Casino with those she held dear. Sunday dinners were a beloved tradition, a time for family, stories and her famous macaroni and cheese made with love and always served with her unforgettable words of wisdom: "Because I said so."
She was predeceased by her parents, John Morris and Wilie Mae Bridgewater; a brother, Gerald Bridgewater; a sister, Lorraine Joyce Bridgewater; a son, Erik Morris Carroll; Godmother, Lucinda Dockery; God sister, Dorothy Dockery; two Godbrothers, James and Gregory Dockery; and her favorite "Pal" Pet, CoCo Carroll.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her children, William Sanford (Nicole) Carroll, Tracey Marie (Daniel) Aboagye, and Denyce LaRayne (Darrick) Carrol; grandchildren: Latrice, Tierra, Na'Sheed, Dyshanique, Tanisha, Angela "Poodie", Tajha, Samaiyah, Basean, Erik, Anthony "AJ", Terrel, Jharel, Tamika, Khari, Renee, Alaasha, Armiale, and Tahzeer; great grandchildren: Rashene, Raekwon, Ellisaney, Taniya, Jaiya, Nigel, Eva, Dylon, Nazir, Teylenn, Nyla, Nazahah, Paris, and Zara; great-great grandson, Giovanni; God- sons, Neil "Prince" Ferrell, Kenyon Blackshear, and Benjamin Bethea; God sisters, Marianne Blackshear, Barbara Dockery, Sharon Dockery, and Edith "Aunt Edv" Mcalinden; God brothers, Ricky and Larry Dockery; Lifelong special friend, Ronald Davis; all around great neighbors, Anthony "Mr. Tonv" and Queenie; and favorite family physician: Dr. Eric Williams "Dr. E."; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, former Miller Homes residents, former students and colleagues who worked and attended: Cadwalader, Jefferson, Grant, Rivera, Robbins and PJ Hill Elementary Schools.
Funeral service will be 12pm Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be private.
