Dolores C. Peterson-Gilbert

Dolores C. Peterson, 71, of Trenton, NJ, peacefully transitioned on Friday, May 16, 2025. Affectionately to her loved ones as Nan, Mom Mom, and Pete, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Dolores lived a life marked by humility, understanding, and a deep capacity for forgiveness.

Born on January 10, 1954, to Isabel Dillion Thomas and Carl Binn, Dolores was lovingly raised in Ewing, NJ by her foster parents, Rose and Frank Taylor. Throughout her life, she embodied a gentle strength and grace that uplifted everyone blessed to know her.

Dolores dedicated much of life to mentoring and guiding young people as a Supervisor at the Ewing Residential Center. Her unwavering devotion, patience, and leadership left a lasting legacy within her community and the lives she touched.

She was predeceased by her parents and foster parents; her siblings, David Dillion, Thelmar Lassiter Thomas, Robert Thomas Jr., and James Thomas; and her beloved children, son, Carl Frank Binn, and daughter, Erika Peterson.

Dolores leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience through her sisters, Elaine Robinson and Gloria Meekins; her children, Twanette Binn, Tanya Peterson, Allen Peterson (Kenyata), and Kenya Peterson; her grandchildren, Jodie (Napolean Sr.), Taaj (Kaitlyn), Jonquay, Tyshaun, Shakira, Quadira, Tyshawn, Marquise, Malasia, Mashayla, Marquan, Quasaan, Enyia, and Zykir; and her great-grandchildren, Kamilah, Napolean Jr., Kamille, Michael, Savannah, Caden, Mariah, Demore, Di'ceir, and Brelin; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Dolores's life was a testament to quiet strength, tireless dedication, and boundless love. Her memory will forever be cherished by those she touched.

Funeral service will be 1pm Monday, June 2, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 12pm until the time of service. Interment will be private.
