Donald L. Meekins Obituary

Donald L. Meekins, Jr., was born April 15, 1969 in Trenton, NJ to Dawn and Donald Meekins. Educated in the Trenton/Ewing public school system. He graduated from Ewing High School. He later went on to further his education while attending Ashford University, Wiggy, as he was affectionately called was employed at Columbian Chemicals for eight years and worked over 20 years for Diamond Cab. He later also was self-employed and ran his own business called Don's Taxi Service.

Wiggy was known for his kind heart, infectious smile, laugh and bard work effort. He was a die-hard Pittsburg Steelers fan, loved music especially rap. He was known for his moves on the basketball court and on the dance floor. His favorite places to eat was Ihop and Olive Garden. Always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear, and many acts of Kindness.

August 17, 2013, Donald was united in Holy matrimony to Kiraah Meekins of Jackson, NJ and raised eight beautiful children. He was a virtuous man, family came first with him. Donald's children and grandchildren who constantly flocked around him. was his greatest joy. Donald's nieces and nephews loving knew him as "Uncle Wigg",

Donald Meekins, Jr. was granted his angel wings on January 20, 2026. His final days was spent surrounded by love and family. Donald leaves to cherish his loving smile and warm heart to, his wife Kiraah Meekins, bis mother, Dawn and father Donald (Cozet) Meekins, his children: Kennidi Meekins, Cydnee Phillips, Jeremiah Meekins, Tamara and Tonisha Jackson, Eric dams, Briana and Aamya Meredith. Brothers: Dennis Meekins, Anthony Born C. Griffin, Omar Meekins, Walter Pitchford, Charles Kidd, John e Bennett, Gerald Posey (deceased) Sisters: Denisha Courtney, Rayshawn Kidd (deceased) Rosalynd and Rasheedah Bethea, Grandchildren: Aihyana Meekins, King Meekins, Marcus Ruffts, Justice Jackson, Leiand Ani Johnson, Rowan Meredith. Aviah Cotton and Shakur Jackson, Aunts: Debra Kidd, Lonnie and Robert Stinson and Stephanie Lee (James), Best friend Corey White and a host of other loving relatives and friends. special thanks to Charles Hannon.

Donald life may seem too short to many but his those that were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time one lives. Our hearts are so heavy with the loss of his physical presence, but we will rejoice in knowing that to be absent of the body is to be present in spirit.

 

Funeral service will be 12pm Monday, February 2, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be at 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
