Donald N. Williams, Jr.

Donald Nelson Williams Jr. was born on April 4, 1958, to the late Donald Nelson Williams Sr. and Annette Delores Williams. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in San Diego, CA.

Donald was the oldest of four children. He cherished his siblings. His brother Cortland, his sister Deborah, and younger brother Guy. He was educated in the Hempstead School District. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1976. Donald loved sports and played on the varsity football team as an offensive & defensive tackle all four years. He was a great player which was documented in sports books for breaking records. He was also on the track team. His love for sports cars also was immense, he bought his first sports car in High School from his Uncle Sherwood. It was a green 1963 2 seater convertible TR4 triumph Classic, all his classmates along with his family admired that car. He was elated to have obtained that vehicle.

After graduating high school, He was enrolled in Control Data Institute to pursue a career in computers. He began his career working for Gruman as a computer technician which he enjoyed very much. In May 1982, Donald was hired as a Computer Engineer for Tandem Computers in New York City. Donald still loved his cars while working at Tandem He bought his next show piece. His second car which was a 1977 Green Datsun 280-Z which had personalized license plates DONS Z.

After working several years as a Computer Engineer in the city he wanted a change of life and so he relocated to San Diego, California in 1985. He continued a successful career working at Tandem. But he was missing something special in his life so in July of 1986 Donald decided to settle down. Donald and Valerie Smith got married in Las Vegas, Nevada and they did it in style. They brought both the Williams and Smith family to Vegas along with friends where they celebrated their marriage. They were married for several years.

He later remarried, to his current wife Faye on August 3, 1991. He enjoyed being a stepfather to Faye's son Brandon McCray. He loved living in San Diego and became a Californian. Donald followed the Padres and Chargers as his primary teams. However, he didn't completely give up his New York roots because he still cheered for the NY Giants, Yankee's, Met's, and of course the Knicks.

He loved his family. Although he lived many miles away, he was always very supportive and was only a phone call away. He loved to laugh and enjoyed his movies and give great advice. He would binge watch movies and always had a list of recommendations to share. Donald loved his dog "Cody". Cody was his buddy, he and Cody would take long walks as they enjoyed the outdoors.

He was also very active in his community, and he served on the HOA association, in addition he was also the president of his homeowner's association.

In October 2015, Donald retired from Hewlett Packet (formerly Tandem and Compaq) ending his long and rewarding career.

Donald loved his family especially his niece and nephew Jada and Jalen.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents Donald Williams Sr. and Annette Williams and his sister Deborah Ann Williams. He is survived by his wife Faye, stepson Brandon; brothers Cortland and Guy (Demetria), Nephew and Niece; Jalen and Jada, Aunts Lois, Barbara and Aunt Joyce, Cousin Mike Fuschini and Jo Ann Johnson and a host of, cousins, and friends.

Donald will always be remembered for his cool, easygoing demeanor, his intelligence, high sense of humor, his caring ways and love of family.

May God grant you eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon you. Rest well my dear brother Donald we all love you. You will be deeply missed and forever remember by all who knew you.

Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the of the service. Interment will be at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, NJ.
