Dorothy Marie Tiller (Proctor) Obituary

Dorothy Marie Tiller (Proctor)
February 27, 1943 – June 4, 2025

“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”

Dorothy Marie Tiller (Proctor) was born on February 27, 1943, in Alexandria, Virginia, to the late James Proctor and Inez Julian. As a young child, she moved with her family to Trenton, New Jersey, where she built a beautiful life grounded in faith, love, and family.

A God-fearing woman, Dorothy was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, where she worshiped as often as she was able. She studied nursing at Mercer County Community College and went on to work for over 30 years at Henry J. Austin Medical Center, retiring as a supervisor in Medical Billing and Coding. Her work ethic and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Dorothy was the youngest of 13 siblings and the final matriarch of her beloved family. She carried her role with strength, grace, and devotion—always opening her heart and home to those in need, especially her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. To know her was to experience unconditional love.

Affectionately known as Nana, Dotsie, Dot, or Aunt Dot, she had a lively spirit and a creative soul. She loved crafting, making jewelry, sewing quilts and hats, and was rarely seen without a good book nearby. Her favorite pastimes included watching Korean dramas, enjoying shows like Grey’s Anatomy , Downton Abbey & the Godfather of Harlem. Dotsie enjoyed doing daily scratch-offs and crossword puzzles, and engaging her family in a competitive game of cards.

On June 4, 2025, Dorothy departed this life peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by love. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Robert Proctor, Alfred Proctor, Earl Proctor, Mary Virginia Drain, Theodore Proctor, Jean Julian, Mary Elizabeth Proctor, Mary Charles, Donald Julian, Ann “Lollipop” Julian, and Robert “Buddy” Julian; a beloved bonus sister, Margie Beckett; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Sharon Proctor (Bobby) of Trenton, NJ; two bonus daughters , Regina Fulton & Clem Williams ; and eight adoring grandchildren: Keith, Dayron, Christopher, Sheila, Trevor, Bradley, Natalie, and Aaliyah Proctor. Her memory will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends including Joyce Neal, Barbara Ice ,Shirley Brown , Thelma Meyers, Louise McMillan ,Barbara Taylor & Cevera Silvis .

Dorothy’s legacy of love, family, and faith will live on in each of us. She will be remembered for her strength, her laughter, her unwavering devotion and the way she made everyone feel like family.
