Edwin C. Hinton Jr. "DJ Money Mike"

Edwin C. Hinton Jr., affectionately known as DJ Money Mike, a mixologist genius passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on September 15, 2025, at Capital Health Helene Fuld Hospital. Born on December 19, 1954, in Trenton, NJ, Edwin was the beloved son of Edwin C. Hinton and Rosa Hinton (Saunders).

Edwin had a variety of jobs working at H&M, Burlington Coat Factory, and Congoleum for over 10 years. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and found immense joy in playing music, a passion that earned him the nickname DJ Money Mike.

He was predeceased by his partner Shiree Lynn Washington, his father Edwin C. Hinton, his mother Rosa Hinton (Saunders), his sister Darlene Hinton, and his son Tyron Hinton 7. Edwin leaves behind a loving family, including daughters Chirmara M. Washington, Elisha N. Washington and Nakia Preston Teel (Marty), his sons Michael Hinton and Shawn M. Hinton, and his special friend Dave Dogg. His grandchildren Tah’jahnay Rowell, Zai’yae Rowell, and Zaqua Rowell, and his great-grandchildren Na’mire Langston, Nay’Eli Rowell, and Za’Havi Rowell He is also survived by his sisters Rochelle Ross (Dwight), Lisa Nollie (Riley), and Debra C. Hinton and his brothers Russel Hinton and Jeffrey Hinton.

Edwin's legacy will live on through the music he loved and the memories he created with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial service will be held 1pm Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Interment will be private.
