Eva Mae Bess was born on August 31, 1922 in Delray Beach, Florida. On January 13, 2025, Eva peacefully answered the Master's call from labor to reward and collected her wings and went on to glory. A job well done my good and faithful servant.
Eva attended the public schools in Delray Beach, Florida. As a young lady, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida for a few years and then she moved to Bogalusa, Louisiana. she always call
that the magic city. In 1947 she moved to Hightstown, New Jersey. After living in New Jersey for a few years, she met Clarence Bess. She did not realize that she had just met her husband. They were married for many many years and her husband died in 1993 leaving her a widow at age 71.Even though she was alone physically, she knew that she was not alone spiritually she has always put her trust in God and was baptized at an early age. She knew that with- out Jesus she would not be able to make it. He bought her over many hills and through many valleys for over 102 years..
Aunt Eva loved everyone and always had a smile on her face. In 1996, She joined Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Jamesburg, New Jersey, where she became one of the church mothers. She was a faithful member to her Sunday school and loved going on church outings. she would always look forward to family reunions in North carolina.
In 2018 her niece Brenda realize that she was no longer able to live alone and she moved her to Burlington to live with her. She then joined Alpha Baptist Church and later became one of the
mothers of the church.
Aunt Eva loved doing jigsaw puzzles, the harder the better. She was a whiz at cross- word and word search puzzles and did them for hours during the day. Her favorite food was Kentucky Fried chicken and M&Ms with peanuts. She enjoyed very very sweet cups of coffee daily and please don't take away her salt.
In addition to her parents,·she was predeceased by her husband Clarence Bess; two sisters, Willie Macon and Carrie White.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her niece and nephew Brenda and Larry Short with whom she resided; her nieces, Kimberly, Ayana, Kaci, Latoria, Darcella, Jade, Mena, A'jiya, Amber, and Maya; her nephews Robert Jr., Travion, Jiyon, Jasiah and Anwar; special friends; a host of nieces, nephews cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Alpha Baptist Church, 15 Rose St, Willingboro, NJ 08046. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be 10am Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
