Evelyn Cunningham

Evelyn Cunningham, 88, of Trenton, NJ, peacefully passed away on August 2, 2021 surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with cancer.

Evelyn was born on June 21, 1933 to Noah and Annie Stephens in Trenton, NJ. Evelyn received her education at Trenton High School.

Although Trenton was home to Evelyn, she traveled the world throughout her lifetime.

During the 1950s, she met Thomas “Tommy” Cunningham. Evelyn & Tommy went on to have three children; Wanda, Nancy and Tammie.

Evelyn worked for the State of New Jersey's Department of Transportation for over thirty years. Evelyn was passionate about her job and loved what she did for a living.

Evelyn gracefully retired in 1993 after years with New Jersey’s Department of Transportation. While retired, Evelyn had time to pursue her love of traveling and spent quality time with family.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; Noah and Annie Stephens, late husband Tommy Cunningham and Great Granddaughter, Markeia Busch. She is survived by two sisters; Margaret Evans and Yvonne Daves. One Sister in Law; Billie Cunningham. Three daughters; Wanda Cunningham, Nancy Brown (Ronald), Tammie Hinds-Cunningham. Five grandchildren; Shawn Cunningham (Frieda), Steven Cunningham, Kairsten Nunn, Lance Hinds Jr., Bryce Hinds. Three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, two special friends; Ruby Gee and Denise Clark, and a host cousins and other relatives and friends.

 Calling hour will be 10-11am Monday, August 9, 2021 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618.  A Graveside Service will be held immediately after the calling hour at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
