Florence Chisolm

With much love spread and many memories shared, our beloved Florence accepted her angel's invitation into the kingdom on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. As a result, our hearts are less bright but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter.

Florence Louise Chisolm was born on October 5, 1952 in Pritchardville, South Carolina to Millie Chisolm and Ed Givens. Fifteen years later she relocated to Trenton, New Jersey and in 1967 she became a lifetime resident.

"Bootsie" as she was affectionately named, attended public schools in Pritchardville, then continued her education in the Trenton public schoolsystem. She was employed at the Best Western Hotel-in the late 1990's. She then began a career working at a daycare center until the school closed many years later.

Bootsie loved cooking big meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed her sweet potato pies every holiday. She also loved going out with her friends, Mable, Joann, Annie, Lisa and her favorite cousin Tracey to cabarets. She enjoyed her morning coffee and early news reports. And she would ignore almost everyone to watch her soap operas at 12:30 noon.

She was predeceased by her mother Millie Chisolm; her father Ed Givens; her sisters Deloris Johnson, Claretha Chisolm and Mary Givens; her nephew Tony Johnson; an aunt Emma Johnson; great uncle Benjamin Johnson

Florence's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her daughter Cynthia Chisolm; her son Tyrone Chisolm; her grandchildren LaJohnda Chisolm, Marcus Chisolm, Tyreek (Taneka) Chisolm and Tekera Wright; her great grandchildren Jah'zel Lane, Makiya Chisolm, Breona Chisolm, Jeremiah Zamor, Marcus Jr., Mikayla Norman, Madison Chisolm, Mas-on Chisolm, Julian Chisolm, Tania Tift, Sincere, Elijah Chisolm, Aries, and Tyreek Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ.
