Frank E. Boatwright, 69, passed away after a long illness on January 26,2021. He was born on August 6, 1951 in Mullins, SC, but he was a true son of Trenton, NJ, where he's lived since the age of five. Frank graduated from Trenton Central High School where he was a member of the cross-country track team and was recruited by the Durham College Track Team in Durham, NC. After a promising first semester Frank had to make the hard decision to leave college due to political and financial challenges. Soon after leaving college Frank became employed at Amtrak as a railroad worker and remained employed until his disability retirement. As a young man Frank loved running, but as he grew older enjoyed walking, just about everywhere.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel, Sr. and Odessa Mason Boatwright; a sister, Dorothy Boatwright Morgan; a brother, Nathaniel Boatwright Jr; two brother-in-law, James Fishburne and Jacke Harris; and a nephew, Dwaine Darby.
He leaves to mourn his passing, four sisters: Hazel Fishburne, Hamilton, NJ; Edith Darby (Liston) Wingate, NC; Bobbie Harris, Lakeland, FL; and Rose Boatwright, Florence, SC. He also leaves behind a goddaughter, Courtney Snead, Yardley, PA; an uncle, Samuel (Thelma) Mason, Trenton, NJ; nine nieces and nephews: Sandra Boatwright, Angela Darby, Keith Darby, Sonya Boatwright, Derek Boatwright, Tyran Boatwright, Deshawn Boatwright, Bianca Morgan, and Bernadette Jefferson; fourteen great-nieces and nephews: Kenya Jones, Brycandis Boatwright, Verne (Otis) Palmer, Kristen Darby, Elijah Blair, Ja'von Boatwright, Jada Johnson, Ashanti Boatwright, Kenyanna (Tyrone) Miller, Geary Jefferson, Brandon Woods, Olivia Blount, Lloyd Johnson, and Quincy Johnson; and three life-long friends, George Snead, Shurie Green, and Carl "Tony" Byrd. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 12-2pm Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
