George Herbert Taylor Jr., 70, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on September 26, 2023. He was born on March 21, 1953, in Trenton, New Jersey.
George Herbert Taylor Jr. known as Herb or Herbie, was a beloved individual who touched the lives of many. Herb was a true people person. He had a vibrant personality and was always surrounded by friends and family.
Herb graduated from Ewing High School in 1970. A year later, he joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1971 to 1975. After his military service, Herb worked at General Motors before becoming an Inspector for the New Jersey State Weatherization Program, both in Ewing, New Jersey. Later, he became manager of
Jet Productions and Psychotic Jet. Herb managed the Tavern Basketball Team, and he was one of the founding members of The New Jersey Volkswagen Club.
Herb completed training as a barber and obtained his barber’s license. He worked at the Renaissance Barber Shop in Ewing. When Herb moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2003, he brought “Jersey" to Florida as a Barber at Phat Fades Barbershop, and he became a devoted parishioner at New Horizon Worship Center and Academy.
Being involved in the entertainment business and meeting people as a barber allowed Herb to continue his person-to-person contacts, which he really enjoyed.
Herb is survived by a loving sister, Cynthia L. Taylor, Ewing, New Jersey; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Thompson, Ewing, New Jersey; son-in-law William Hackett, Hamilton, New Jersey; his cherished grandchildren, grandsons, Matthew Hackett, Hamilton, New Jersey; Jordan Taylor, Trenton, New Jersey; granddaughter Ziana Taylor of Trenton, New Jersey; very close friends, Jeff “JD” Howard, Brentwood, Tennessee; Charles “SweetCo” Smith, Ewing, New Jersey; Carol James, West Palm Beach, Florida; Pastor Mikela and the parishioners from New Horizon Worship Center and Academy, West Palm Beach, Florida.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, George Herbert Taylor, Sr. “BT" or Benny Taylor; Gloria E. Taylor, both of Ewing, New Jersey; his wife Cheri Lee Thompson Taylor, Trenton, New Jersey; his daughter, Jenifer Taylor Hackett, Hamilton, New Jersey; his son Kyle Taylor, Trenton New Jersey; his grandson Shawn Taylor Hackett, Hamilton, New Jersey; father-in-law, Bishop Lawrence S. Thompson, Ewing, New Jersey; Cousin Calvin “Skip” Taylor, Atlanta, Georgia; very close friends Mark Raymond Smith, Cary Walker and Eli Woodson all of Ewing, New Jersey.
Herb will be deeply missed by his many friends and relatives throughout the United States.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Herb's life,
