George Willie Robinson - 84 years old

Sunrise – April 1, 1938 – Sunset – November 18, 2022

George Willie Robinson affectionately known as Pop-Pop” or Pops was born April 1, 1938, to the late Nettie Robinson and the late Jessie Robinson in Haynesville, Louisiana. He was the youngest of three children. He departed this life on Friday, November 18, 2022.

George attended Grambling State University and played football for the late great Eddie Robinson. He loved fishing, family gatherings especially with his grandchildren. Sports were important to him as he loved all of them. He would watch golf, basketball, football, and tennis. His favorite football team was the Kansas City Chiefs, but he rooted for all teams with an African American quarterback. He was an Army veteran and loved discussing politics.

After finishing college, he moved to Trenton, New Jersey to be close to his sister. During a night out with friends, he met Patricia Joyner who would be his soulmate. They married a year later on July 16, 1967, and were together until his death. He was a loving father and has 3 children, Bernadette Penick, Lance Robinson, and George Gregory Robinson. He worked at US Steel and retired after 25 years.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his forever memories to his wife, Patricia Robinson, daughter Bernadette Penick (Jeff), Lance Robinson (Deanna), and George Gregory Robinson. His five grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be 9:30 Friday, December 2, 2022 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
