Georgia Walden Parham born November 24, 1938, departed this life on Monday January 3, 2022. Georgia was predeceased by her mother Gladys Claudine Hedgpeth and father
George Walden; foster parents Stephen & Laura Vaughn; her loving and devoted husband Peter W. Parham; six sisters, Mildred Williams, Gladys Robinson, Gloria Laramore, Janet
Nelson, Claudine Young and Doris Atkins; five brothers, Andrew Hedgpeth, Theodore Hedgpeth, Chauncey Hedgpeth, Warren Vaughn and Leo Vaughn and granddaughter, Adrienne Nelson.
Georgia began her Christian journey at Union Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. AS. Grayson. She continued this journey joining the Shiloh Baptist Church in
1981 under the guidance of the late Rev. S. Howard Woodson, Jr. and now under the Rev. Darrell L. Armstrong.
Georgia attended the Trenton Public School system, graduating from Trenton Central High School in 1986. She later attended the Cittone Institute and graduated with a 4.0 GPA in Computer Technology.
Georgia's early career started at the State House in Trenton, NJ. Then she went to work for RCA Electronics in Jamesburg, NJ. Georgia later went to work for Hoffman LaRoche, Inc. in Cranbury, NJ for 15 years until they were acquired by Kontron, Inc in Boston, MA She traveled back and forth to Boston as a financial consultant to the new company. Georgia then started a new career working at AT&T in Hopewell Twp., NJ, which was later acquired by Lucent Technologies during her tenure. After working there for 15 years, she retired in 2001.
Georgia could not keep still and began working for Capital Corridor Community Development Corporation in 2002, an affiliate of Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ as Office Manager. Georgia worked there for seven years until she finally retired for good on June 30,2009.
Georgia loved her family and loved traveling and cruising with her husband, family, and friends. Their favorite place with the children was Walt Disney World in Florida. She also enjoyed shopping with her granddaughter Jennifer, friend Geneva and cousin Natalie.
Georgia leaves behind to cherish her memories, daughter Gaye Taylor, NJ, sons, USAF (Ret.) Alvin Nelson (Nichelle) TX, Stephen Nelson, NJ, Glenn Parham, NJ and Gary Parham, PA Eight grandchildren, Major Jennifer Blackwell-Hawthorne (Captain Jamel Hawthorne) VA, Jonathan Blackwell (Aurora) NJ, Ashley Parham, NJ, Brandice Nelson, TX. 2Lt Alvin Nelson III, AZ, Charis Nelson, TX, Brittany and Brianna Nelson, NJ. Eight Great-grandchildren Bronx, Miles, Lorenzo, Cameron and Quinton Blackwell, Nalani and James Jr., and Nicolas Carter. One very special buddy and caregiver Ezell Jackson Jr. N and we can't forget the family pet her guard dog Lizzy-Lu and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who will truly miss her. Special thanks to MTT Transport (Hamilton, NJ) and DaVita Dialysis of N. Burlington, NJ.
Funeral service will be 10am Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
