Geraldine Teel (née Leonard), 88, departed this life February 1, 2025. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Geraldine was born on March 29, 1936, in Louisburg, North Carolina. Geraldine spent the first eight years of her life in North Carolina and Virginia before settling in Trenton, where she remained a devoted member of the community for 80 years. She completed her education within the Trenton Public Schools system. A dedicated homemaker and childcare provider, she lovingly cared for numerous neighborhood families throughout her life. She was also an active member of the Mothers’ Auxiliary for the North Trenton Little League.
Geraldine gave immeasurable love and devotion to her family. With her husband, she helped make their home a happy, fun and secure place where everyone felt safe, cared for and loved. She was loved and respected by all she met, and will be greatly missed.
Geraldine was predeceased by her husband, Charles Teel; her parents, Hue and Pattie Leonard; two brothers, James and Eugene (Carol) Leonard; and one sister, Lucy Teel (Joseph).
Geraldine is survived by her loving children: daughters Cynthia, Donna, and Kiyah Teel of the Trenton area; sons Paul and Martin (Nakia) Teel of the Trenton area, and William (Renee) of Bowie, MD. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren—Charnetta, Pharoah, Aisha, Darius, Syreeta, Brandon, Jordan, Marcus, Tyrell, Tayanna, Briana, Brion, and Amarys—as well as 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary McClain; brothers William (Dorothy), Ronald (Gwen), and David (Idella) Leonard; brother-in-law Oscar (Hilda) Teel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Geraldine’s legacy of love and care will be cherished by all who knew her.
Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr Way, Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
