Gregory Byrd

With much love spread and many memories shared, our beloved Gregory accepted his angel's invitation into the kingdom on day Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (Hospice). As a result, our hearts are less bright but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace and laughter.

Gregory Byrd was born on Thursday, February 9, 1961 in Trenton to William L. Byrd Sr. and Hattie Mae Byrd. He remained a lifelong Trenton area resident.

"Byrd" as he was affectionately called was educated in the Trenton public school system. He joined the military where be served for four years in the National Guard. Gregory was self-employed as a car detailer.

He was predeceased by his parents William L. Byrd Sr. and Hattie Mae Byrd; sister Carolyn Byrd; his brother Ronald Byrd; three brothers-in-law Douglas Brockington, Amelia Taylor and John Coffee; his two pieces Maisha Brockington and Takisha Wynn.

Gregory's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by his two his two children Quayanana "MomMom'' Byrdand Quazier Byrd; his granddaughter Sylar Bryant; his brothers William Byrd₎ Curtis Byrd, Jeffrey Byrd, Barry Byrd, Kenneth Byrd (Sonya), and Larry-Gary Byrd; his sisters Stiirley, Charlotte Byrd, Judith Byrd, Dolores Brockington, Minister Diane Diaz (Rev. Edgar Diaz), his sister/caregiver Jacqueline Byrd (Ricky) and Gloria Cobb ,(Jeremiah); his friends the Razor Sharp family, Rudy and Anthony "Freddy Krueger" White; his special friends Jerry Highsmith, Joe Baker, Princewell, Andre Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and other friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be private.
