Gwendolyn Andrews

Born August 25, 1947, in Trenton, New Jersey, Gwendolyn was the daughter of the late Dorothy Williams and Lonnie Simmons Jr. She was educated in the Trenton Public School System.

In her early adult years, she moved to California, where she walked the runways as a model, showcasing her grace and natural beauty. Later, she became a house painter, sharing her artistic talents and creativity with the world. She eventually returned to the East Coast, where she dedicated herself to her true calling as a caregiver.

Gwendolyn was a woman of wit, warmth, and quiet strength. She had a deep love for fashion and took great pride in her appearance, always carrying herself with elegance and grace. More than anything, she loved her family. Her sharp sense of humor and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She was predeceased by her son, Latore Dupree Williams, who died at birth; her stepson, Johnnie Andrews Jr.; her siblings, James, Luke, Vernon, Richard, Robert, and Greg Williams of New Jersey, and Gertrude Simmons of Springfield, Virginia; her brother-in-law, Matthew Andrews, Tommy Jordan, and James Williams; her sister-in-law, Linda Fae Andrews of New Jersey; and her beloved grandparents, John and Elsie Williams of Trenton, New Jersey, and Lonnie and Gertrude Simmons of Statesboro, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Johnnie L. Andrews; her stepdaughters, Rhoda Harvey of North Carolina, and Vitikia and Averial Fitzpatrick of Georgia; her daughter-in-love, Andrea Couch; her granddaughter-in-love, Audrey Wright Moses; and her great-grandchildren-in-love, Mhi'Air and Atlas Jeffries.

She is also survived by her loving siblings: Delores Aydelotte (Frederick); Ayanna "Sharon" Shepherd (John) of Burke, Virginia; Bonita Johnson (Richard) of Statesboro, Georgia; Michelle Troupe (Ollie) of Largo, Florida; Georgella Smith (James) of Terre Haute, Indiana, Stuart Rasor (Rhonda) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Victoria Robinson (Deundray) of Montgomery, Alabama; and Chris Frink of Statesboro, Georgia. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters-in-law, Ellen Hall of New Jersey, Diane Jordan, and Mary Roberson (Johnny) of South Carolina; her brothers-in-law, Gerald Andrews, Warren Andrews, and Milton Andrews of Georgia, and James Williams of New York; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Funeral service will be 11am Monday, June 1, 2026 at Trenton Deliverance Center, 1100 S. Clinton Ave., Trenton, NJ 08611. Calling hours will be 9am until time of service at the church. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
