Gwendolyn Lashley Obituary

Our Lord and Savior called his faithful servant, our beloved Gwendolyn C. Lashley to rest on Monday, April 8th. 2024 peacefully at home in Trenton, New Jersey. As a result, our hearts are less bright, but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace, and laughter.

Gwendolyn C. Lashley was born November 8th, 1954 in Fort Pierce, Florida to Leroy Sams and Myrtis Branch.

She was educated in the Trenton public school system.

Gwendolyn was a former manager at Bradley's Department Store and Drug Emporium. She also was a retired homemaker.

Gwendolyn attended The Victorious Church based in Ewing, New Jersey. She was also involved in the Ewing food pantry which is run by The Victorious Church.

She was also a member of the Edith D. Warren Grand Chapter, O.E.S. New Jersey Gwendolyn served as a member of the Lily of the Valley Chapter #22 as PAWM, and Past Illustrious Noble commanders of the St. Peter's Court, working under the authority of the Supreme Grand Chapter of America Incorporated O.E.S affiliated with the Supreme Grand Council of America Incorporated A&ASRM.

Gwendolyn enjoys family, worshiping, traveling, shopping, teaching Kingdom kids, painting, gardening, flowers, and being an avid fisherwoman.

Anyone who knew Gwendolyn knew the one thing she enjoyed the most is feeding the homeless, doing community service and She opened her doors to those who needed a place to stay.

She loved dogs, especially her old fur-pal, "Parker."

Gwendolyn was caring, kind, loving, had a great sense of humor, great dancer and her smile was electrifying.

Gwendolyn was predeceased by her parents, Leroy Sams and Myrtis Branch, her daughter Brandi Lashley, brother Arthur H. Tyler Jr, Leroy Sams Jr., and sister Gloria L. Beavers.

Gwendolyn's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her loving husband, Ben Lashley Jr; her children Arthur (Timeesha) Reed, Grady C. L. (Roslyn) Griffin Jr. Ton'ya L.(Tony) Genwright, Devionn A. Branch, Benjamin (Miriam) Lashley lll, Leonard (Trish) Lashley, Terrence D. Lashley, and Adrienne (Tevar) Brown.

Grandchildren Tyra McConnell, Tiana, Tahj, and Trey Reed, Tyler, Javon, Grady III, Alex, Kevin and Kameren Griffin, Shaquilla (Charles) Walker, Sara Genwright, Brittany, Alexis Lashley, Dionna (Phillip) Pizzolato, Amya Lashley, Tevar Jr., and Trinity Brown.

Great-Grandchildren Cairo and Kennedy Rae Staton, Aaliyah and Olivia Pizolato.

Siblings Brother Jimmy E. Branch, Gregory, Michael, Kerry Lee Sams, Sister Betty J. (John) Branch, Gloria Hills and Debra Sams.

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many friends.

The family of the late Gwendolyn C. Lashley would like to express our love and appreciation which has made this time of great sorrow easier to bear. May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to bless and keep each of you in his tender loving care. Please continue to lift our family up in prayer.

 

Funeral service will be 11am Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Mt. Sinai Seventh-Day Adventist Church,35 Arlington Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
