Helen Mathis

 

Helen Francis Mathis transitioned from this life on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Helene Fuld Hospital in Trenton, New Jersey. Helen resided in Trenton, NJ for over 30 years after relocating from the Miami Florida area. Helen was born in Trenton, New Jersey to father, (the late) Ike Sam of Trenton, NJ & Pauline Sam of Cheriton, VA. 

 

Helen was preceded in death by, Father, Ike Sam; Brothers; Isaac Sam; Larry Reed; Son: Jaun Mathis; Niece, Verdale Sanders; Nephew, Marquise Saunders whom she loved dearly. 

 

Helen is survived by Mother; Pauline Sam, Aunt Eunice Barnes, Uncle George Reed; Sons; Andrew (Nakia) Mathis; Shaun (Dominika) Mathis; George Harper; Daughters; Mira Mathis, Alice Blackmon; Grandchildren; Andrew Holt; Heaven Mathis; Saniya Mathis; Jashawn Mathis; Kahlil Walker; Deondre Mathis; Davion Spaulding; D'myir; Kaleb; Kalaia; Kora; Kaida; Brothers; Roger Reed; James Sanders; Edward Sanders; Arthur Sanders; Isaac Saunders; Alvin Adkins; Sisters; Carol Reed; Sharon Sam; Florence Fitzgerald; Doreen Saunders; Marion Traore; Abrianna Saunders and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews with an extended family and friends. 

 

Helen was a true matriarch in our family. She initiated cookouts full of food and laughter that kept us close together. She prided herself in helping others and we are so thankful to have had her in our lives. She never liked to say goodbye and she is well known for saying, "Its never goodbye, just I'll see you later".
