Jackie Lee Buie Obituary

Jackie "Jack" Lee Buie was born on September 16, 1952, in Marion, South Carolina to the late Gilbert Buie and Edna Mae Buie. Jack and his brother, Preston Buie moved to Trenton, New Jersey where he attended Trenton High School. Upon graduation, he volunteered and joined the Marine Corps.

After the military, Jack was employed by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) where he worked as a draftsman. Jack attended Mercer County Community College and IS Center for Degree Studies where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He successfully climbed the ranks to secure a position as a Principal Engineer and Project Manager. Jack worked for NJDOT for over 30 years and retired in 2006. Jack moved to Tampa, Florida in 2006, and worked for the Florida Department of Transportation as a Signal Timing Analyst for four years.

Jack was very athletic and he excelled at sports and played football, golf, and tennis. He was the coach of North Trenton Little League who were the Supreme Deli champions. He also enjoyed working out and competed in several bodybuilding competitions. He was a diehard Eagles, Sixers, Yankees, tennis and golf fan.

Jack was a member of Samaritan Baptist Church and served on the Trustee Board.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert Buie and Edna Mae Buie; his brother, Steven Bradford; two brothers-in-law, Homer Jones, Jr. and James L. Coley; and a sister-in-law, Marie Buie.

Jack leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lyn Buie; his mother-in-law, Shirley Johnson; his three sons Christopher Buie, Tremaine (Rosalind) Buie, and Adrian Buie; five granddaughters; nine grandsons; and two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Christine Jones, Carolyn Jackson, and Darlene (George) Hall, Valora (Wendall) Richardson; his brothers, Preston Buie, David Bradford, Frank Bradford, Gerald "Mickey" (Tina) Stubblefield, Howard (Connie) Bradford; his one remaining Aunt, Laura Hendley; best friend, Cardell McCall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Samaritan Baptist Church, 531 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Trenton, NJ 08609. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
