James C. Clark, Jr.

James C. Clark, affectionately known as Junior., was born on July 8, 1953, in Trenton, New Jersey, and peacefully transitioned on July 30, 2025. James proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

James was a man of strength, humility, and deep faith. A hard worker by nature, he spent many years employed with Dow Jones and Kmart, and later continued his dedication to service during his time at Walmart. In his prime, James stepped out on faith and, alongside his nephew Todd, founded El Rois Home Improvement a business that reflected his skill, work ethic, and commitment to quality service. He was incredibly gifted with his hands and always willing to help anyone in need. Whether fixing something around the house, lending a hand to a neighbor, or stepping up for family, he gave without hesitation.

James understood that ministry began at home. When his stepfather, Thurston., became ill, James lovingly stepped in as his caretaker, honoring him with the same strength, care, and dignity he showed to all. His selfless service and unwavering presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. That was the kind of man James was—strong, loving, generous, and deeply rooted in his faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Clark Sr.; his beloved mother, Fronie (Jones) (Clark) Mitchell; his stepfather, Thurston Mitchell; his sister, Mary Jackson; and his brother, Larry Clark.

James leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Lynia “Roxanne” McCloud-Clark (Johnta) and Selena “LaLa” Hayes; his grandson, Jashier McCloud; his grandchildren: Machone, Kareem, Zoya, and Tyshanna; and his great-grandchildren: De’mia, India, Alaya, Kameela, Aubrey, Jah’liek, Ma’keil, Khayson, and Kensley. Extended Family Pamela and Eric McCloud, last but not least, his grand pup, Marcy.

He is also survived by his sister, Hattie Clark; his brother, John Clark (Patricia); nephews: Todd Jackson (Belinda), Dion Fulmore (Mirtha), Johnnie Fulmore (Tiara), James Clark (Lynnetta), Rahien Clark (Quashasia), Anthony Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Tahir Clark; nieces: Genia Clark, Charlene Jackson (Keith), Colleen Jackson, Tiffany Pullen (Marquise), and Talaya Volcy (Matthieu); and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, our extended family members the Brady’s, the residents of Waterfront Village his cherished housing community and his Saint Phillips Baptist Church family.

James was a devoted deacon at Saint Phillips Baptist Church, where he faithfully served under Pastor Joseph E. Woods. He found joy in fishing, watching Westerns, and tuning into the Game Show Network, especially Jeopardy. But more than anything, he deeply cherished his family and held an unwavering love and reverence for God.

Your compassion, care, and commitment to James’s well-being will never be forgotten.

James C. Clark will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, August 16, 2025 at St. Phillips Baptist Church, 445 Parkinson Ave., Trenton, NJ 08610. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ.
