Lovingly known as "Bobby, "James Robert McKeithen, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on April 10, 2026. He was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, and graduated from Trenton Central High School.
Bobby worked as a Manufacturing Line Mechanic for many years at Thomas J. Lipton Company in Flemington, New Jersey, until he became disabled.
Bobby was a devoted and passionate family man. Though sometimes misunderstood, his loyalty, dedication, intelligence, and friendship were immeasurable. He had a giving spirit and was always willing to help others, whether by providing transportation, food, or financial assistance. He found joy in simple acts of kindness and was known for keeping his neighborhood clean and cared for, often sweeping and maintaining the area around his home. He also fed stray animals and checked in regularly with friends and relatives across the country.
He had a love for old-school music, enjoyed going to the casinos, and spent time fixing things. Affectionately called "IR" by some, he was known for his quick wit, hearty chuckle, and warm smile. Bobby touched many lives with his generosity and maintained a subtle sense of humor throughout his life.
Bobby was one of five children born to the late James Robert McKeithen, Sr. and the late Edna R. McKeithen Lee. He was preceded in death by his son, James Robert McKeithen III; Patricia A. McKeithen; Ramona McDaniel’s; his brothers, Charles Richard McKeithen, Roger Jerome McKeithen, and Brandon James (BJ) McKeithen; and his beloved sister, Rosalind McKeithen Howard.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Rita McKeithen of Newark, Delaware; his brother-in-law, Jeffery Howard of Brentwood, Tennessee; his beloved daughters, Vondalyn McKeithen of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Shawnette Goodman (Devin) of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Tahishia McKeithen of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Tyquasia McDaniels of Lawrenceville, New Jersey; his treasured grandchildren, Brandon (Erika) Harrison, Marquis Harrison, Jabril McKeithen, Yasmin Baylor, Joshua Goodman, Elijah Goodman, Malaika Huff, Frederick Davis, My'Asia McKeithen, and Rob Tye; his great-grandsons, Jayden Harrison and Greyson Bryant; his great-granddaughter, Melody Rose Tye; his godmother, Rosa Malloy: along with a host of extended family and friends.
There was only one Bobby, also known as JR, and he will be truly missed. May his spirit and kindness forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
