Jamyra Casháe Odom affectionally known as "Jay" was born January 24, 2001, to Nakecia Odom and Jamal Thompson in Trenton, NJ. Jamyra departed this life on August 17, 2023 in Hamilton Township, NJ. Jamyra was a lifelong resident of Trenton, NJ. She was educated in the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Rubino Academy in 2019.
Jamyra loved basketball, shopping, and working. She appreciated having nice things and didn't mind going to work to get that money. She was a jokester! She loved being silly, making her loved ones smile and being the life of family gatherings.
Jamyra was a sweet person, who enjoyed helping others and sharing her skills with her family and friends. Riding around was her escape from everything and it allowed her to be her true self!
Jamyra was predeceased by her grandfathers, Allen Blackshear and Richard Thompson; her great-grandparents, Mary Blackshear, Brisco & Lillian Odom; two aunts, April Thompson and Tona Thompson; a great uncle, James Blackshear; and three special cousins, Breon, Hakeem and Ikee Blackshear.
Jamyra's memories will be cherished and forever remember by her parents, Nakecia Odom and Jamal Thompson; her siblings: Chante Odom, Abigail Thompson, and Jamal Thompson, Jr.; her grandmothers, Edna Sweet and Paula McRae; her aunts: Alexis Sweet, Miracle Sweet, Sheree McRae, Kim Johnson, and Gwen Dean; her uncles: Kevin Avent, Richard Thompson, Victor Thompson, and Antone Williams; nephews: Prince Naveen, Camari, and Tasyrus; one niece, Xseila; her god aunt, Sonya Daniels; great aunts: Mary Singletary, Shirley Oliver, Helena Blackshear, Lillian Crews (Jody), Angela Dennis, and Jennifer Odom; a very special aunt who helped raise her, loved her dearly, was her road dawg, and always had her back all her life, Shelisa Odom; one great uncle, Alex Odom (Robin); her special friends: Pas, Dontrell, Esko, Breona, Tashah, Tutu, Nefartara, Shatya, Amani, Amaya, and Ani; a host of cousins through her Odom, Blackshear, Thompson family; and many friends who she loved dearly!
Funeral service will be 12pm Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Samaritan Baptist Church, 531 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Trenton, NJ 08609. Calling hours will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
