Obituary

Janet Marie Harmon, age 93 passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Clover Meadow Rehabilitation Center early Friday morning August 18, 2023. Born in Matawan, NJ, she and her family lived in Roanoke, VA before moving to Princeton NJ at the age of 4. Janet married Robert "Bobby" Harmon and she and the family moved to Ewing in 1964 to THE WOODLAND AVE. where they lived for the next 60 years.

During this time Janet raised not only her seven children but was a caretaker fer many children in the Ewing Township area. She was known to many of the children including her grandchildren as Mom-Mom. And to others as Mom Harmon.

Janet attended the Princeton Public School System until she graduated in 1948. Janet worked as a care giver for Skillman Psychiatric Hospital as well as Morris Hall until she retired.

Janet was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church of Princeton under Rev. Parker. Upon moving to Ewing Janet became a member of St. John's Baptist Church.

Janet was a member of Princeton's own Eastern Stars. She was known as a prize-winning dancer during her youth. She loved to iron for others...put creases in clothes that would last even through washes. When riding on the bus Janet refused to sit down because she didn't want to wrinkle her
clothes.

Janet favorite past time was going to Bingo. She had a different place to go every day of the week. Janet also loved her word search puzzles and reading a good book. If the book was really good, she would finish it in one day. She loved country music and watching western movies and let us not forget about her love of the ID Channel.

Classic kitchen beautician with a gift to which many can attest. Cooking... anything she put in the pot, or the overall tasted amazingly delicious. But she was famous for her fried chicken, macaroni  and cheese. She was always at the temple frying chicken if there was an event going on. She did not disappoint.

Janet is predeceased...by he is father Charles Chester Hairston; mother Helen Madison Hairston; her brothers Harold (surviving wife Margaret) Hairston, John (Sue) Hairston, Harry "Pete"(Mary) Hairston; sister Mildred Hairston; her husband Robert E. "Bobby" Harmon; son Robert E. "Buster" Harmon II.

Janet is leaving behind 4 daughters Charla Renee' Harmon, Robin Harmon Henry, Tara S. Harmon and Toni L. Harmon; 2 sons Barry L Harmon (Sharon) and Steven J Harmon; 4 grandchildren Leonard Harmon, Camille Henry, Wayne Henry, Jayden Studivant; 3 great grandchildren Melvin Howard Ill, Katrelle Harmon and Carinne Brown; her long-lasting sister from a different Mister, Dorothy Taylor as well as Faith Coy; several nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews; last but not least everyone from the neighborhood that loved her.
