Jenifer Sharmein Taylor Hackett

Jenifer Sharmien Taylor Hackett was born on March 25, 1981, in Trenton, New Jersey. She was the daughter of George Herbert "Herb" Taylor Jr. and the late Cheri Lee Thompson Taylor. Affectionately, her family and friends called her, J- Lo, and she jokingly always reminded people that her name was Jenifer with "one n please." Jen was a lifelong resident of Mercer County, residing in both Ewing and Hamilton, New Jersey. 

Jenifer was a graduate of Ewing High School and also received degrees from Mercer Community College and Princeton School of Real Estate. From an early age, Jen had a passion for dance and aquatic activities. She studied Jazz and Modern Dance at the Glen Roc Dance Shoppe in Ewing, N.J. where she joyfully participated in Competition Teams. After graduating from high school, she became a teaching assistant and mentor for aspiring young dancers. Jen, also, truly understood how water has been used as a symbol of wisdom, power and grace. Being in and around water gave her comfort. She worked as a Life Guard for the Trenton YMCA, where she felt swimming made her feel graceful. Jen found moments of relaxation, comfort and peace at various water front parks in not only N.J. but also the Caribbean. Periodic trips to different Caribbean Islands and the Pacific were her place of peace and created necessary moments of spiritual revival. 

Jenifer was a family-orientated person who contributed greatly to the managing, promotion and growth of two very different family businesses. First, she helped her late grandfather George Herbert Taylor, Sr., lovingly known as BT, manage the famous BT's Bar and Liquor Store which was a major centerpiece for social events and activities in Trenton and Ewing. Then, she helped her husband establish and expand The Razor Sharp Barber and Beauty Franchise which still remains a centerpiece to the Trenton community. 

Jenifer met William Maurice Hackett in 2001 and married him on July 22, 2010. God gave them two gifts, Shawn and Matthew, to cherish. As a celebration of their life, Jen called them her "Joy Boys." She is also remembered warmly by William's other sons, Jaylen, Billy, and Marquise, who she always referred to as her sons for they were loved by her as if they were per own. With a loving and kind heart, they were all her "Joy Boys." 

Jenifer's sunset occurred on Monday, February 28, 2022 after battling several serious medical challenges in recent,.. years. Her faith and courage were remarkable for she never ·complained and always smiled. Jenifer was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, grandmother Gloria E. Taylor, who Jen got her love for dancing from and grandfather George H. Taylor Sr, "BT". and recently her brother Kyle Taylor Kennebrew. 

Jen is survived by her father, George Herbert Taylor Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida; two grandparents: Bishop Lawrence E. and Willie Mae Thompson, both of Ewing, N.J.; three Aunts: Cynthia Taylor, of Ewing ,N.J., Esther Boykins of Yardley, PA., and Mariah Thompson of Staten Island, N.Y.; husband, William M. Hackett; five sons: "her joy boys," Jaylen, Billy, Marquise, Shawn and Mathew, Brothers and sisters-in-law, William Peoples, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kelli Mitchell-Shaw, of Richmond, Virginia, Shaye Garvin, of Willingboro, New Jersey, and Shawn Hackett, of Burlington, N .J.: her God father: Jeffrey D. Howard of Brentwood, TN.; her dedicated God sister: Monika Daniels, Brentwood. TN. 

Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Ministerios Fraternidad Cristiana, 715 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
