November 11, 1926 - August 13, 2022

Jewel Ellis was born in Wabalsso, Florida on November 20,1926. She was the daughter of Classy and Oscar Inghram. She passed away peacefully at her home with her family on August 13,2022.

Jewel was educated in the India River School District.

She married the love of her life Herbert Ellis Sr. After the death of her husband, she moved herself and her children to Trenton, NJ.

She worked for twenty years in the Trenton Public School District as a school aide. Jewel was affectionately known as mother and grandma, but also as a woman that gave her life to Christ at an early age.

Jewel was an avid reader of the bible; she would share bible stories with her children and grandchildren. Her love for the Lord traveled down to her children. She instilled dependence on God to her family on a daily basis.

Jewel was known for saying "Without God we can do nothing" . Jewel lived out her life being an example of excellence to her family. Education was very important to Jewel, and because of that she was able to see through her lineage how they succeeded throughout the world as Sgts., Nurses, Entrepreneurs, Iron Workers, Therapists, Vice Principals, and many other exceptional people.

Jewel Ellis was predeceased in death by her husband Herbert Ellis Sr., sister Beluah May Engram, sister Missionary Dollie Mae Jackson, sister Amanda Flowers, sister Evangelist Dorothy Lasane, daughter Pastor Sherline Ellis, and daughter Gloria Jean White.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons Alonzo Engram Sr, Charles Ellis, and Herbert Ellis Jr. and daughter Mae Frances Ellis. She had 9 grandchildren Alonzo Engram Jr. (Janet), Catonya Ingram, Larayne Engram, Monica Thompson, Joseph White Jr., Jamil Engram, Tijia Ellis, Olivia White, and Jabbar Engram. One God Granddaughter Elder Brenda Crawford. Jewel in addition leaves twenty-three great grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind a host of nephews and nieces, as well as other family and friends to cherish her memory .

Today we don't mourn, but we celebrate the blessing that GOD allowed us to have 25 years with this amazing woman.
 

 

Funeral service will be 12pm Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Emmanuel Pentecostal Temple of the Apostolic Faith, Inc, 203 Hutchinson Rd, Robbinsville Twp., NJ 08691. Calling hour will be 11am until the time of service. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
