Joann I. Spencer

Joann Spencer, age 82, of Trenton, NJ, entered into eternal rest on December 8tn, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Born on July 25th, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, Joann lived a life filled with purpose, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

After graduating from Harris-Stowe State University, Joann devoted her career to education. She proudly served as a teacher for the Juvenile Justice Commission with the State of New Jersey, where she touched countless lives with her patience, wisdom, and belief in the power of second chances. Her work was not just a profession but a calling-one she fulfilled with grace and heart.

Joann was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Elnora and Joseph Spencer; her siblings Ruby, Larry, and Kenny; her daughter Crystal; and her grandchildren Randy and Cliff Jr. Though she endured significant loss, she continued to be a pillar of strength, love, and resilience for her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Tamary (Richard); her sons Christopher, Cliff, and Troy (Pam); her sisters Carolyn Spencer and Janice Spencer; her brothers Steve Jones, Richard Spencer, Stanley Spencer and Tony Spencer; her Goddaughter Jazmia; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. To each of them, Joann offered unconditional love, wise counsel, and a warm, welcoming presence that will be deeply missed.

Joann's life was a beautiful example of faith, devotion, and enduring kindness. As we gather to celebrate her homegoing, we honor not only her passing but the remarkable journey she traveled, the lives she enriched, and the legacy she leaves behind. May her light continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral service will be 3pm Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave,. Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 2pm until the time of service. Interment will be private.
